Bremer Playing House
Posted by: Adam Fuson @ 2006.12.26.1403

A few months ago Bremer closed on his new house in East Walnut Hills. Cincinnati Bell had installed his phone lines, but they had not been connected to any jacks in the house. So Saturday afternoon I stopped by Bremer's new house to help install a phone line. When I arrived on Ingleside, Bremer was in his detached 2-car garage installing a garage-door opener. Initially, there was not enough clearance between the door and the trusses of the garage roof to install the opener, so Bremer and I modified the door. Johnny Adams and Aimee Taylor arrived at Bremer's house, just as we were completing our modifications. Bremer gave us all a tour of his new home, and then I went to dinner with John and Aimee, while Bremer drove his wife home from work.

After dinner at an Indian buffet Bremer and I installed his phone line beneath a table on the first floor of his house. His computer was to be on the table and to power the table, which was in the middle of the room, he also wanted an electrical outlet on the floor, especially since there was a receptacle box in the floor from where one had been installed years ago. So I got a junction box, an outlet, some wire and a faceplate and we installed the extra outlet. Luckily there was a nearby supply line from which to provide power for the outlet making the job quick and easy.

Though the basement is too short to be useful, the attic is unfinished and the house needs some energy efficiency modifications, the majority of the house has been recently remodeled and is very clean and contemporary. I envy the vestibule on the back of the house, which acts as an airlock when entering the house. The two sets of stairs, one from the rear and a more formal staircase at the front of the house add to the overall openness of the design.
