Charlie and Melissa Wed Posted by: Adam Fuson @ 2006.07.06.2215
Saturday I woke a little before noon, as Jim called me. While my clothes were washing, I reassembled and washed my car, then quickly showered, dressed and left for the Covington Marriott. The rest of the bridal party was waiting for me on the 11th floor. After about an hour long photo shoot, we all left the hotel destined for Alms Park. I detoured to a nearby Kroger and then picked up Miss Danni Cheng at her apartment. Naturally, I was the last member of the bridal party to arrive at the park, and after a few introductions most people were seated. A few final moments passed, while I seated Helen Buelow, Melissa's mother before the ceremony began.
The actual ceremony was relatively short. Powered by the wind Melissa's veil attacked Charlie on several occasions, but Charlie managed to keep his composure until the end of the ceremony, when he enveloped Melissa in a deep kiss. I have not seen Charlie and Melissa smile so much, as when they are together, and the straightforward nature of their wedding seemed appropriate. After the ceremony the bridal party moved the flowers to 2 cars headed for the reception hall to be displayed there. Danni and I helped with the flowers before taking a scenic route to the Madison in Covington.
Arriving at the Madison Sarai and the Reser's were busy moving the flowers into the reception hall. Though it was over 90-degrees outside, the reception hall was well below 70-degrees and provided shivering relief for those beaten by the heat. Each table at the reception hall was adorned with a different cake at its center, and visitors were encouraged to move around and try as many as they enjoyed. A buffet style dinner was served, while the normal bridal dances occurred between the bride and groom, the bride and her father, etc. John Adams, Aimee, Reser, Sarai, Danni and I ate and talked the night away. Reser gave a short speech about his past with Charlie and congratulating the newly-weds before Melissa's sister, Kris, indulged in a slightly longer soliloquy and finally conducted a toast to the couple. After a few hours the guests began to thin, and after grabbing a cake Danni and I made our exit.
I love that picture. sort of a cross between a ivy league fraternity photo and a law firm commercial. It's fantastic! Congratulations Melissa and Charlie!
