Lynchburg Race
Posted by: Brian Nieport @ 2006.04.21.2149

Arriving in Lynchburg, Sunday morning, I was hoping to find another UC jersey for a change, but I was disappointed. Lynchburg was my third race of the year with Hueston Woods and Deer Creek being the first two. Also, my dad showed up to watch his first race of the year. There was about a field of 40 for the A race with the local Cincinnati teams all represented as well as Texas Roadhouse and Abercrombie and Fitch. We were scheduled for 56 miles of racing on the 8-mile circuit.

The race started off fast and we quickly turned into a cross wind, but the field would not break apart easily. Early on I tried to remain in the top ten and was successful while taking a few pulls to keep myself up front. After a couple of laps the racing became negative with riders taking flyers and getting shutdown fairly quick. At about the half-way point I started to wonder when the big break would go so I could try to get in it. I worked the front as best as I could but the winning break did not go until just before the last lap. O'Brien and Patrick O'Donnel got away. Since I missed the break, I decided to see what I could do in the field sprint. I tried to time my move to the front, but I was unsuccessful and blew up with one kilometer to go. I am happy with how my legs are coming around with minimal racing and lack of training during winter quarter. I am excited by how fast I could potentially be this summer.

Sorry, it was just too good to pass up.

I would now like to open the forum for a discussion between Nieport and Frank [and willing others] concerning the virtues of chamois butter, its application placement, frequency, quantity, methods, successes, failures...

If you feel chaffed in the area where your chammy meets you body, use it. Or post ride to help treat the chaffing.

Ned @ 2006.04.24 2127
  Chaft.

For some reason this break news doesn't surprise me. Tym Tyler has pulled Wilkesville out of the OVR Spring Series. Although, it looks like the race will still go on.

TYM SUCKS shirts are on the way.

Johnny English @ 2006.04.27 1425
I believe it is spelled chamois not chammy.
Who will be running the event?
What does this break news mean?

Fuse @ 2006.05.03 2249
Exactly what do you think Nieport did to prepare for this photo?

Ned @ 2006.05.03 2336
I think Greg would say "Dogballs".

john @ 2006.05.04 0858
